Australian horticulture has increased its efforts to enter high-value Asian markets. The goal is to help growers find export opportunities to grow more productive and profitable businesses.

At the Hort Connections 2026, a series of export-focused initiatives, such as trade fairs to build international relationships, strengthen market access, and grow capability in identified priority markets.

Hort Innovation has invested A$38 million across 15 industries and targets exports into 14 Asian countries, including China, Japan, and Korea. Exports are a critical component of the future of the horticultural industry and its long-term viability.

Diversification across export markets is important as horticultural output continues to grow. It will help growers to manage risk, respond to change, and build resilience.

Hort Innovation has lined up events, platforms, and partnerships that will bring together different stakeholders such as government, industry, and commercial groups/institutions. The goal is to build credibility and demand, eventually driving exports and strengthening trade relationships.
