The launch of a $4 million trace ability grant will help Australian exporters grow trade relationships and support more effective responses to food safety and biosecurity incidents.

Agricultural, fisheries, and forestry exports are projected to hit $83 billion in 2025-26.

Strong trace ability systems will ensure Australia secures its status as a source of high-quality, safe, and sustainable food and fiber products. The grant supports collaborative projects that will drive the implementation of the National Agricultural Traceability Strategy 2023-2033.

The grants will range between $50,000 and $500,000 and are aimed at projects that:

- Align processes and technology to collect data that meets regulatory requirements and provide feedback to farmers.
- Support implementation of interoperable traceability systems.
- Implement communication and education campaigns that increase awareness of agricultural traceability.

Measurable outcomes from successful grants will include:

- Improved systems to track and trace agricultural products through export supply chains.
- Help exporters remain competitive in global markets.
- Encourage farmers and processors of high-value products to move towards exports.
- Ensure cost-effective improvements to existing systems and technologies.
