Air Freight is projected to have a year of moderation in 2026. After several years of constant change, 2025 was the year air freight recalibrated after trade flows adjusted, capacity returned, and settled into a stable but complex operating environment.

Growth will continue but will be slow and controlled. E-commerce is still an important driver. However, air freight demand is driven by a mix of high-value, time-critical, and technology-driven cargo.

Air cargo has become a structural pillar of global trade that supports global supply chains relianton speed, flexibility, and reliability.

Global air cargo demand is projected to grow by 2.6% in 2026, a sign of stability and driven by multiple sectors.

The air cargo industry has demonstrated an ability to adapt effectively to policy shifts, the changing global trade landscape, and economic uncertainties. Change to deminimis rules altered ecommerce flows, but the industry adjusted by redeploying capacity to other trade lanes and alternative markets.

In 2026, air freight fundamentals will remain strong. We will see reliability, specialized handling, and service quality become equally important as speed and capacity. and are becoming just as important as capacity and speed.
