# Tug Assisting Abandoned Ship in the Strait of Hormuz Hit by Missiles

A tugboat carrying out an operation on the stranded container ship, *Safeen Prestige*, was hit by missiles six nautical miles north of Oman in the Strait of Hormuz.

The deadly attack on the UAE-flagged tug, Mussafah 2, led to the death of four crew members and severe injuries to another three crew members.

The tug was hit by two missiles during the salvage operation of the *Safeen Prestige, which* had also come under attack days earlier. The container ship was adrift for several days following the attack.

The International Maritime Organization (IMO) has condemned the attack that occasioned loss of lives and severe injuries.
