Avocados Australia Strengthens Collaboration with Malaysia
Avocados Australia is further strengthening its collaboration with Malaysia on industry engagement, nutrition education, and culinary innovation. Australia has a 70-72% market share in Malaysia and Singapore, a leadership position retained since 2021.
Avocados Australia has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Monash University Malaysia and a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with UOW Malaysia to reinforce the partnership.
The MoU with Monash University Malaysia establishes a framework for collaboration that connects academic research with real-world agrifood insights. It will enhance consumer education and graduate readiness in health, nutrition, and food science disciplines.
Avocados Australia has a long-term strategy for South-East Asia that seeks to strengthen knowledge exchange and further build trade relationships. These efforts have realized an 8.6% year-on-year increase in Australia’s avocado exports to South-East Asia at 18,487 tonnes in 2025, according to the 2025 Australian Avocado Exports and Imports Report. Malaysia reported strong growth in 2025 with volumes rising 54% year-on-year.
Investments in knowledge exchange, nutrition education, and culinary innovation will support long-term market development. Malaysia is strongly emerging as a top three market for Australian avocados globally.
