China Typhoon Alert: Shipping Delays Continue

Daniel

China TyphoonBack-to-back typhoons are continuing to cause major disruption across China’s key shipping hubs.

Typhoon Narra has already impacted southern China, while Typhoon Saudel is now affecting the Ningbo–Shanghai region, with port restrictions, vessel diversions and reduced terminal productivity expected.

This follows recent disruption from Typhoons Bavi, Noul and Dolphin, which left vessels waiting at anchor and created significant congestion across North Asia. The result is a growing backlog of containers, delayed vessel arrivals and an increasing risk of rolled cargo.

What you should expect

  • Delayed vessel schedules and late arrivals
  • Port congestion and longer berthing windows
  • Possible rolled bookings or port omissions
  • Delays to container collection, delivery and equipment availability

Even once weather conditions improve, recovery will take time as ports work through the accumulated backlog. We recommend allowing extra lead time for all China-origin shipments over the coming weeks.
